2016 Recipient — Mona Azzo

Mona graduated with an Associate Degree from Collin College, Plano Texas. She presently transferred to the University of Texas at Austin school of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering, with a major in Civil and Environmental focus. Born and raised in Texas, Mona hopes to work in and help grow the renewable energy sector here in Texas after she graduates.


2016 Recipient — Samantha Elliot

Samantha is pursuing a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a focus on environmental engineering at Rice University. She works with Dr. Griffin as part of his research group and focuses on understanding the chemical behaviors of trace gases and aerosol particles in the troposphere. She is the president of Rice University’s chapter of Chi Epsilon, a national Civil Engineering honors society. Samantha has previously interned with Shell Oil Company and Cheniere Energy, Inc. in environmental compliance roles. She is pursuing a career in the energy industry and will graduate in May of 2017.


2016 Recipient — Sajjad Abdullajintakam

Sajjad is a graduate student of Coastal and Marine System Science at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.


2016 Recipient — Rivkah Gardner-Frolick

Rivkah is a senior studying Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rice University. Rivkah works in Dr. Rob Griffin’s air quality laboratory studying the dispersion of highway pollutants and vehicle emission ratios in Houston. In addition to her coursework, she is a project lead for Engineers Without Borders, President of Rice’s Real Food Revolution and a member of the Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society.


2016 Recipient — Sujata Gautam

Sujata is a senior Civil and Environmental Engineering major at the University of Houston eager to continue exploring the ways she can make positive impacts in the world. Her passions lie in both living sustainably and serving others, and she aims to work in areas where environmental and humanitarian concerns overlap. This goal has led to her particular interest in combating waste pollution and addressing its effects on poor communities. She looks forward to living a life of service, and is excited for what the future awaits.
